Discovering K-Tel compilation records when I was 8 years old started my interest in music. That and Mom's 8-tracks of Glen Campbell and the Beatles. It grew from there. Having buddies that played instruments when I was in high school made me want to join in. Having a step father that worked in a music store was a huge factor too. I soon graduated from an unplayable acoustic guitar to my first electric guitar and that sealed the deal. I've been playing guitar and studying music ever since!
Writing complete songs is a new thing for me. I've been creating bits and pieces of songs for decades, but recently(2018) started writing from start to finish. It begins with a title that I think is catchy or interesting. The lyrics come next, then I create a chord progression and arrange how everything fits together. A few verses, a chorus, and maybe a bridge. Then I record a scratch acoustic guitar track as a guide and pile on instrumental ideas with drums, bass guitar, and then electric guitars and virtual instruments like keyboards and synthesizers. Finally I record my vocals and extra guitar solos. The results are never predictable!
I've been lucky enough to be able to perform music, sing and play guitar around the world for the last 40 years. Starting with buddies in high school bands, then in Japan playing for the troops during my military service in the early 80's. Back in the states I'd been in numerous bar bands and even performed with original artists in larger venues opening for a few major acts. I spent a year in Los Angles, then went on the road playing top 40 on the east coast Marriott circuit. I finally took a leap of faith and packed up for Nashville to be in a place where music thrives. 20+ years in music city has been a great experience. I've met so many amazing people and lifelong friends through music. So now I write music for myself and perform in local nightclubs and still love playing.
If you have any questions or want to ask about my music, give me a shout!
